Chapter Eight After a quick breakfast of toast and coffee, Owen had his briefcase and his car keys in his hand. Taylor took a last sip from his mug, set the cup in the sink, then nodded he was ready. As Taylor brushed past Owen at the door to the garage, he kissed Owen's lips and said, "That's for looking do damn good in a suit."
"Thanks." Owen shut the door, hitting the button to open the garage up. Once they were seated, Owen started the car and headed out. "I feel bad that I missed Leah's call last night," he said as he backed out of the garage.
"We were in the shower. How were we to know she called?"
"Yeah, but I usually call her when I get home. I completely forgot."
Taylor rubbed Owen's leg warmly. "She'll be all right."
"I wish you could meet her properly. She's a sweet kid, despite all she's been through."
"Maybe someday."
"Do you want kids, Taylor?"
"No. No interest at all."
Owen peeked over at Taylor's profile as he stared out at the passing landscape. "No? No heir to the Madison fortune?"
"Nah. I've got six brothers and sisters, let them take care of an heir."
"Six? Wow. I've got one older sister, that's it."
"Your parents still alive?"
"Yes. They live in Palm Springs."
Taylor nodded.
"You'd like my mom. She's got my sense of humor."
"Oh? I can't imagine that. How could a sweet old woman be sick in the head?"
Seeing Taylor's smirk, Owen didn't take the bait. "Where do you want me to drop you off?"
Taylor leaned closer to the windshield. "Which one's your building?"
"This one." Owen pointed.
"Just park in your usual spot. Jesus, Owen, I can walk across the damn street."
"Just figured I'd ask." Owen entered the underground parking area, pulling into his reserved place. "I can't believe you're working right next to me. I swear, Taylor, sometimes I wonder about fate and a higher power."
"Don't get religious on me." Taylor shut the car door.
"Oh, no. That won't happen." Owen chirped his key-fob alarm, walking to the exit with Taylor. Once they were standing on the sunny corner, Owen said, "Well, just come to my office when you finish."
"Around five?"
"That'll work." When Taylor leaned over and pecked his cheek, Owen felt his stomach flip. So bold! Two men? Kissing out on the sidewalk? Oh, never mind, it's LA. Owen waved as Taylor crossed the street with the light, waiting until he couldn't see him any longer, then he entered his office building.

Spending most of the day staring out his window to see if he could spot Taylor doing his thing, Owen managed to get a few hours of work done. Last minute he received a phone call from a panicked client about a tax audit. With a phone headset on, Owen typed quickly on the computer keyboard, asking the client questions while he did.

Taylor stopped to talk to the receptionist at the main entrance's information desk. "I'm here to see Owen Braydon, the accountant?"
"Okay." She smiled sweetly.
